Parquet floors provide very good thermal properties in places or countries where temperatures are very low most of the year round. Timber floors are not as cold as masonry or ceramic tiles. When a house has parquet timber floors its good to note that water should not be poured as this will cause the timber floor to expand and buckle upwards and this will have to be removed. This kind of flooring should only be cleaned with a moist mop or rug but never soaked.
